Shalena has over 15 years of diverse human resources (HR) and management experience that spans start-ups and established organizations. She has extensive handson experience leading HR initiatives including policy design, compensation, performance management, recruiting, compliance reporting, HRIS implementations, HR workflow development, training and development, and benefits administration.
Prior to launching her own Human Resources and Practice Management Consulting Company, Shalena held HR leadership positions for several healthcare and non-profit organizations including the California Dental Association (CDA). While at CDA, Shalena was the Human Resources Manager for The Dentists Service Company (TDSC) where she led the build of the department and partnered with operating unit leaders to ensure alignment of HR strategies with business initiatives and goals. Shalena was also a Director of Human Resources for a non-profit healthcare organization and a Human Resources Business Partner for a community based hospital. Shalena has spoken both locally and nationally on human resources topics and was a guest presenter at a Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) convention.
In addition to her expertise in human resources is her strength in dentistry. Shalena has over 8 years of experience in dentistry, spending 6 of those years in a management role. Shalena’s versatility in both HR and dental practice management allows her to comprehensively support most any dental office; ranging from small family practices to large specialty practices.
Shalena earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies, with an option in Organizational Communication from California State University Chico. Additionally, she has an Associate of Science in Personnel Management, a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and is a Certified Professional with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP).
